Help Katrina and Ben Ladd
Donation protected
My friends Katrina and Ben Ladd just had their apartment destroyed with all of their belongings in the storm that hit Maine on 12/18/23. The whole area they live in, in Farmington, flooded. The picture is of their apartment building and Ben's car under water. They were just barely able to get out in time, with their 2 cats, to stay with a friend before others got stuck in their complex. Their apartment is now covered in silt with all of their belongings inside. Below are pictures of the damage.
Katrina and Ben are long time members of our Maine ultimate frisbee community. Katrina is a social worker in a school and Ben works for the Farmington Parks and Recreation Department. Both of them work with youth and continue to be a part of the frisbee community in a rural area. They have renters insurance but it does not cover flood loss. On top of that they will need to come up with funds for a new apartment, and are waiting to hear back from the car insurance adjuster for Ben's car. I have chatted with them on the phone, and they are having to go through all of their belongings trying to salvage what they can without having time to process emotionally what they have and are going through. It is hard to ask and accept help, especially for those that work in helping professions. Please consider donating to them as they work on rebuilding and cleaning up their home.
