Help Kato's fight against Canine Cancer!

On a rainy night in 2011, a tiny 3 month old puppy jumped into Alex's car and into her heart. He's been her ride or die ever since.
On Monday 12/21, Kato, Alex's beloved fur baby seemed lethargic and not like his usual self. A trip to the vet led to a diagnosis of Hemangiosarcoma - an aggressive blood vessel cancer that can develop suddenly and without any warning, and even in otherwise healthy dogs.
The cancer is currently affecting Kato's spleen, liver, and lungs....however he is still eating, going to the bathroom, moving around and acting happy! We're taking all of this as a sign that Kato is not ready to give up the fight, and neither is Alex. Kato, the ever intuitive soul, will let us know when he's ready, but for now....they'll forge ahead with treatment.
The first steps to healing will be a splenectomy. Afterwards there will likely be some chemotherapy, and there will absolutely be some holistic measures taken to support the treatment. It's a tough road ahead, but Kato and Alex are ready to begin that dreaded journey, directly into battle with "the big C." Those of you who know Alex know how tough she is. Her dog is no different. They'll fight on.
