Help Katie, Yoyok & girls recover from flood
Donation protected
After Yoyok spent hours on the roof in Lismore with the dog, awaiting rescue from the flood in the sheeting rain, the family were able to access the property on Wednesday to find destruction.
My sister Katie and the girls left the night before the flood with just an overnight bag expecting to return home the next day. No one expected the water to come 2m over the 12.3m floors, let alone with such speed and force. Yoyok was eventually rescued by a brave neighbour in a boat, and returned to high ground, but not before smashing a window to rescue an elderly neighbour trapped in dangerously high water. Katie, her husband Yoyok and their daughters Gloria and Saktika are grateful to have Yoyok and dog Hunter returned home safe but it will be a long recovery as clean up begins.
After having to rip up mouldy carpets following the 2017 flood they had lived for 5 years with rough, splintery floors and had saved up enough to finally get them polished just weeks before.
Almost every item in their home needs replacing. The hot water system is gone. They will need a new toilet. We don't yet know what the state of electrical wiring is or any structural damage.

If you feel able to contribute anything it would mean so much to get them back on their feet and into their much loved home again.
