Help Katie Weatherbee Smile Again

I started this fundraiser on behalf of Katie Weatherbee. Katie was diagnosed with Endometriosis in 2014. For those of you who aren’t familiar, Endometriosis is an extremely complex disorder that occurs in the pelvis and can travel to other organs and internal areas of the body. Pain and severity of the disease differ from person to person. For Katie, she was in constant pain. Endometriosis had spread over her uterus, throughout the muscles of her uterus, over her ovaries, up her ureters, on her appendix, and all throughout her pelvic cavity.

After a few years, different medications, 2 doctors, and 2 failed surgeries, her Endo is still unmanageable and often debilitating.

Katie's former doctor suggested Lupron, an injectable medicine which she was told would help suppress the pain. This doctor, however, failed to mention all the dangerous side effects, including that it's actually chemotherapy. It is even used for chemical castration!

Katie endured many of the side effects, one of which was bone loss. This led to her teeth becoming extremely fragile, brittle, and some teeth falling out completely.

Having no other options, Katie needed all the damaged teeth extracted, resulting in an overall loss of 14 teeth. She was given upper and lower partial dentures. They were, and still are, very painful, uneven, and look completely unnatural.

Katie hasn't truly smiled in almost a decade. She has no confidence surrounding her smile and teeth.

Last week, Katie saw her dentist who told her that the remaining teeth are not salvageable, that they are all ready to fall out. The only thing that can be done now is complete extraction and getting a full set of dentures, which take 2 months to create.

There is an option to get temporary dentures, but the cost is out of pocket. If Katie can't pay $2,000 by April 23rd, then she has to go 2 full months with no teeth at all.

On behalf of Katie, I am asking for donations to get the $2,000 she needs for temporary dentures. This $2,000 will change her life forever. Katie deserves to have her smile back.
