One year ago our dear friend, Katie Hoenscheidt, was diagnosed with an almond sized tumor in her uterus. At a recent appointment, Katie learned that the tumor has grown to the size of a cantaloupe - which, according to the doctor, is a rapid growth rate. The tumor is most likely benign but is constantly growing and needs to be removed. Without removal the tumor is at risk of rupturing, putting Katie in an emergency situation. In order to complete the removal Katie will need a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, with the tumor being so large they have passed the point of laparoscopic surgery and will need to complete the procedure through a c-section incision which will add to hospital and recovery time. 

Katie is a single mom of two beautiful girls. She works tirelessly at two jobs to provide for her daughters and give them a comfortable home. She gives of herself constantly and unconditionally. To her girls, her friends, her work and her community.  Never expecting anything in return.  She is the first to volunteer help when anyone around her is in need. 

Now Katie needs our help and we can return the favor. Katie needs $7250 by February 18 in order to complete her surgery on February 25. She does have health insurance but the coverage falls far short of what she needs to complete the procedure. The $7250 is what she needs beyond what insurance will pay for and will cover the doctors fees and her hospital stay. Without this surgery Katie risks major health complications that compromise her ability to support and care for her girls who desperately need her.
