Help Katie Schinke Fight Leukemia!

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Becky Feldmann, and like many of you, I love Schinke family very much. I have been Katie and Sophie's music and drama teacher at CCA for five years now, and my son is friends with their oldest, Drew. Katie, who is 16 years old, was just diagnosed yesterday with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She is at Brenners Children's Hospital and begins chemo tomorrow (Dec. 6th). We are all shocked and devastated by this news. We have hope knowing that God loves Katie more than we ever could, and that we can trust Him, but there are still a lot of practical things that we can do for the family as they care for Katie and their family. I think we all want to do whatever we can to take any non-essential concerns off of Carl and Angie's plates right now. After speaking to several families, we feel the best way is to collect a monetary gift to help them with meals, housekeeping, babysitting, parking at Brenners, or whatever it is they need.

The message below is what Katie's mother, Angie, posted this morning. She is a Christian musician and has just released her first album. I will also post a link for the album in case anyone wants to support them in that way as well.

From Angie Schinke:

In the early hours of Friday morning I released my first album, Come. Twelve hours later I got a phone call that our 16-year old had an extremely elevated white blood cell count and that it was most likely leukemia. That was no coincidence. The past 36 hours have been a blur with all the emotions that accompany shock. Katie was admitted to Brenner's Childrens Hospital Friday night, and the diagnosis came Saturday that she has T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She starts chemo on Monday. Although this was shock to us, it was not to the LORD, and we will trust Him because we know that His love for Katie far outweighs ours. Please join us in praying for our daughter as she takes this unexpected path. May it bring the Father glory, and may she emerge from the ashes with beauty and strength because her hope is in the LORD.

Part of the Lord's Prayer is "Give us today our daily bread." That is our prayer, because honestly, I don't know if I can go beyond today. And I know the LORD will provide what we need each day.

I love this picture of Katie (the profile picture). It captures her joyful and fun spirit, her laughter, and her beauty. PRAY FOR KATIE. #prayforkatieschinke
