Help Katie Rogers Get Life-Saving Treatment

Dear friends, family, and kindhearted supporters,

Katie is fighting for her life. She is battling a series of complex and rare illnesses that have left her in excruciating pain and overwhelming fatigue. Despite enduring multiple hospital stays, and a mini-stroke, she continues to inspire everyone around her with her resilience. The only hope for her recovery lies in specialized treatment at either the Cleveland Clinic or Johns Hopkins, but the associated costs for travel, lodging, and ongoing medical care are daunting.

Katie has not been able to eat for over 4 years. She was on a feeding tube. When that became no longer feasible, she was put on TPN (nutrition delivered through her veins). TPN causes damage to the liver and other organs, so we are in a race against time.

She’s struggled with pain (compared by physicians to that of pancreatic cancer) and spent 5 months, January-May 2025, in the hospital. During this time, she had the mini-stroke mentioned above. The ER team asked her if she wanted to take a medication to halt the stroke which could cause dangerous side effects. Katie was barely able to mouth, yes. This drug most likely saved her life. We are all so grateful that they were fast acting and Katie is still with us.

Katie’s been struggling her whole life with Cerebral Palsy and Dysautonomia. These issues combined have made her daily life excruciatingly difficult, yet she endures. When I feel that I’m at a low point, I always look to her as my inspiration. She is cheery and hides her pain from her family and friends. Even more unbelievable is that she spends time worrying about us.

We look forward to a time when she can do more and has greatly reduced or no pain. She is homebound most days and has limited ability to visit with friends and family or simply take a walk or do her favorite activity, swimming.

She is on disability and has mounting medical bills from past procedures and hospital stays which makes this trip, all the more, difficult. Katie is in her 40’s with much more life to live and TPN cannot continue much longer.

Please help her not only survive but live by helping her get the treatment she needs.

Your generosity could be the lifeline she desperately needs to regain some quality of life. Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to Katie and all of us who care about her. Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.

With deepest gratitude,

Shirley
