Hello friends,
I hate having to ask for help, but I’m in a tough spot and could really use some support. As a single woman working multiple gigs to support myself, nearly all of my income and community work happens on my computer, and I’m struggling desperately with the one tool that makes all of that work possible.
My entire livelihood, creative work, and community involvement depend on having a reliable computer. It’s how I plan and organize the upcoming Prancing Pony Podcast Moot, host charity reading days, moderate and support numerous Tolkien communities, manage work for The Prancing Pony Podcast, and handle my growing list of freelance projects, writing, scheduling, and promotion of others. It’s also how I uplift others’ work, help run events, and stay connected/network across the Tolkien community and fandom. This isn’t just a device, it’s the center of everything I do.
Right now, I’m honestly panicking. I’m fighting to get basic things done, and it’s usually a slog, when the laptop isn’t crashing or having other issues. I don’t have the savings to replace my laptop on my own, and without it, I’m stuck both financially and creatively. Replacing it quickly will not only keep me afloat, but would allow me to:
- Continue planning and running the PPP Moot
- Host more charity reading days
- Keep moderating and supporting Tolkien community spaces
- Maintain the work I do for The Prancing Pony Podcast so many folks enjoy
- Take on new freelance opportunities
- Keep writing, creating, and promoting others
- Volunteer with and support more events
- Hopefully begin LOTRO streaming, which a few folks have asked for
If you’re able to help, whether by donating or sharing, it would mean more than I can express. Every bit gets me closer to being able to breathe again and getting back to doing the work I love and serving the communities that have become such a big part of my life.
But truly, just thank you for reading and for being my community (whichever pocket of this virtual Tolkien community universe we meet up in). Other than Bree Crossroads, I don’t have a traditional community or platform of a creator, because I’m so lucky to be in so many of them and connect with so many folks.
