Help Katie Recover from Severe Electrical Burns

Katie is a High voltage electrician. On October 19, 2024 while working overtime on an antiquated system from the late 1970’s, she took 6000 V to the chest (household voltage is around 120-220). The voltage came in her thumbs and out below her knees. We don’t know the full extent of trauma to her body. She’s now in a burn/trauma unit. She has undergone 5 or 6 surgeries (I have lost count) that involve multiple reconstructive plastic (not glamorous) surgeries and skin grafting. Hopefully, they can save her hand and fingers on the right arm. The left arm fared a little better. Her chest has full thickness burns, and her face has first-degree burns up into her hair. I had to cut the melted hair out from her left side. She had her skin grafted from her legs to cover burned areas: full right hand, left palm and thumb, entire chest, both arms, face, neck, and shins). And the road to recovery is a very long one of years.

Katie was working overtime to pay for her normal bills and put a little aside for Christmas presents (PayPal). Worker’s Comp. only pays 75% of your paycheck. This change in pay will make things for her very tight. She has a roommate as well who still has utility costs, rent, etc.

My goal is to pay off her truck before she leaves the hospital.. if I raise $5000 and then minus for gofundme fees, this will accomplish the goal.

We don’t know what the future holds for this kid. We are really worried how this is going to affect her art drawings. As you know, her paintings were amazingly detailed work. Maybe she’ll go back to school? I don’t think she’s going to return to being a High Voltage electrician. Anything will help.
