Help Katie Recover and Rebuild Her Life
Donation protected
Support Katie through her health and income nightmare.
Katie suddenly lost her source of income. Everything changed on August 27, 2024 when she tripped, fell, and broke the ball off her shoulder joint in her ‘good’ left arm. In addition to the break, she now has extensive nerve damage in that arm. This is a problem because she already lives with limited use of her right arm/hand and right leg after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a 1993 car crash when hit by a drunk driver. In short, Katie has extremely limited use of both arms. Her surgeon estimates recovery of range of motion to be a full year in her “good” left arm.
Katie’s injuries prevent her from operating her small business: dog-sitting. This shuttering of her business translates into a loss of income with complete dependence on Social Security. That loss, coupled with bills connected to her injuries, plus home owning costs, places her in a bad financial situation.
She is looking at bills of at least $12,000 for an assisted living residency, therapy, and adaptive equipment; another $20,000 for ongoing therapy, care, and loss of income over the following 9 months and beyond while she heals. Please consider donating to help Katie through this difficult time in her life. We ask for your prayers and support for our kind and giving Katie.
