Help Katie Osborn’s Hospital Recovery

Hi! I’m Katie! Since 1994, I have been a professional patient, and since 2013, a public advocate for cystic fibrosis and invisible disability.

These past 3 weeks have been some of the most challenging of my life, and I’m asking for your help so I can have more stability for the next 3 months.

While traveling out of city limits for an audition, I became too sick to travel home to NYC. Thanks to the help of many kind friends, I was admitted through the ER to a small upstate county hospital on Jan 25 ,2023. An insidious cycle of sleep deprivation and inability to meet my nutritional needs contributed to the severity of this illness.

My loving family members organized an elaborate rendezvous to get me back to my health care network in NYC, and I was admitted for my 2nd hospitalization after 28 hours in a NYC ER.

The New York Presbyterian Network of physicians saved my life yet again their excellent care. I was fortunate to be discharged on Wednesday, February 8th.

3 days after exiting the hospital, my Jeep Compass was towed by NYPD.

Unfortunately this hospitalization also aligned with my NYS unemployments benefits ending, and I can no longer certify to receive my weekly stipend. Despite an awesome resume, and top tier training and certification, I still searching for a full time job with benefits since I lost an administrative position in August 2022, due to lack of company funds. Although I’ve been applying for some fantastic positions and i’m still looking for the dream job. I’m here for your producing, and theatre education, theatre management & administrative positions NYC!

I’m asking for your assistance to help me properly recover, recuperate and establish stability, and continue to seek full time work with health benefits these next 3 months.

Our original $8,000 goal ($2,400 per month) will cover 3 months of living expenses including:

- 2 car past payment maintenance

- car impound & towing fees

- car payments and maintenance for 3 months

- under market sublet rent for 3 months

- utility fees for 3 months

- $300 /month for groceries or 3 months (food supplement program applications in process)

- cell phone for 3 months
