Help Katie Morgan Fight Grade 4 Brain Cancer

Hello, my name is Michael Piatt, and I am fundraising for my sister Katie Morgan. She was recently married in October 2020 (Katie Citrenbaum) and was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma (GBM), the most aggressive type of Brain Cancer, on January 13, 2021.

 

My sister means the absolute world to me, she has been my best friend my entire life and seeing her go through this horrible ordeal at such a young age has saddened my heart.

 

On December 25, 2020, we had to postpone our family Christmas tradition due to Katie battling a terrible headache, violent vomiting, confusion and light/noise sensitivity

As time went on she only got worse and worse. We tried everything to help her but her doctors initially had no idea what was wrong.

 

After numerous phone calls and doctor's appointments, she was rushed to the hospital on January 13th and was transferred to Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. She was admitted to the NICU where they performed a craniotomy surgery.

 

She then was treated with radiation for 6 weeks straight and chemotherapy for 7 months, at this point the costs were really starting to add up.

 

She could not go to work during this time due to her medical condition, and her place of work generously offered her short-term disability. Short-term disability then turned to long-term disability, and eventually, she was deemed disabled. 

 

After she was diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Brain Cancer, she was instructed that she must continue with MRI scans every 8 weeks to keep up with the potential recurrence of the tumor. She also has various doctors and must attend several doctor's appointments to maintain her aggressive cancer. Unfortunately, it is almost guaranteed to come back due to the aggressiveness and only about 25% of those diagnosed live to see 12-15 months after receiving treatment.

 

My sister is strong. She continues to be positive and inspires everyone around her.Any amount that you can give would help her to keep fighting this cancer and help her to worry less about the financial burden that this awful disease has caused her and her husband.
