If I Could Tell You is an emotional short film written and Executive-Produced by Katie Lynn Johnson.
In this poignant short film about life and loss, 25-year-old Noelle struggles to move forward after losing her mother to cancer. After she experiences recurring flashbacks from her childhood, Noelle's therapist asks her to write a letter to her younger self.
The reason behind the film
I wrote this story based on my personal experience losing my mother to cancer as a 15-year-old. As a young person dealing with such a tremendous loss, I remember feeling like I would burden my friends with my sadness if I shared it. So instead, I kept it inside of me. Over time, however, I learned how pain and loss would eat away at me from the inside out. My pain often revealed itself in the form of depression, PTSD, and loneliness.
I wrote this story for many reasons, but perhaps my biggest reason was that I simply could not bring myself to write anything else. Maya Angelou said it beautifully when she stated,
“there is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
