Help Katie Gotch Keep Fighting

Backstory

Hello! I’m Katie, I’m 31, and I live in Minneapolis Minnesota. Four years ago I was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy called myasthenia gravis. Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disease, which is a disease that occurs when my immune system attacks my own body. In MG, that attack interrupts the connection between my nerves and muscles causing my muscles to weaken. I was having difficulties with managing my disease for about two years before I was referred to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. After numerous tests, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia along with MG. Fibromyalgia is also an autoimmune disease, but it causes widespread muscle pain along with fatigue, sleep and memory problems.


Problem

Unfortunately, I am no longer able to work, my current occupation is trying to keep myself well. My daily life has drastically changed since being diagnosed, I take many prescriptions and go to many doctor appointments trying to find relief from my constant pain and muscle weakness. I am trying to get social security disability but the process is long, with more doctor appointments on my horizon. Currently, I do not have a way to get to my appointments after my car had some front end issues. I have looked into other forms of transportation but with my illnesses, my fatigue would get the best of me before even arriving there.

Solution

I have taken my car to a local mechanic and he told me it would be 2800 dollar to fix! I hope that by posting this gofundme, that I will be able to fix my car. In turn, I will be able make the doctor appointments that I need to go to, as well as regaining my independence back. I hope that in the future I will find a therapy that will give me the best quality of life. Thank you for your time.
