my name is Jacques and for so many years—20 to be exact—I was married to this wonderful woman. However, while we are not married anymore that did not mean that we would not still be best friends. Katie has always worked in the medical field, from nursing homes to home home health aid and for having a hearing impairment, she's done very very well. But this year she decided that she wanted to try working at the hospital setting up in North Adams, Mass. They knew that she did have a hearing problem when they hired her and that they were going to try to arrange some reasonable accommodations so that she could make her job a little bit easier. But after working there for not too long, suddenly it became a problem even though for her whole life it wasnt and are now requiring that she purchase hearing aids but , you're on your own pqying for them If you don't situations may change for her Katie has looked into getting hearing aides and She has found the company that does them, and they do help her quite a bit and greatly improve her way of life allowing her to communicate just as well as we do The problem is that the company that she's buying them from does not take payments; you have to pay for them outright,and they don't accept insurance and they're like 2-3 thousand dollars. She is a CNA, and she has a family, and it is just very hard if not impossible to come up with a way to come up with that kind of money. 2-3 grand is a good chunk of change. I'm doing my share to try to help her, but I can only do so much myself so please step in and try to help a fellow nurse who cares diligently for your family as if they were her own .Therefore, I have started this GoFundMe. I believe it would be in the best interest to help Katie get the hearing aides that she needs but apparently they wont Katie is a fantastic worker; the people that she works with love her, the residents that she works with love her. I have heard no bad complaints about her. I would really hate to see somebody who is so well-vested in the medical field be thrown aside over something as simple as earbuds. So please, just donate anything that you can. I'm still trying to figure out a way to help katie more but we're trying. She really loves her job, and she likes the people she deals with, so any little bit of money counts. We'll see what we can do. We'll get her hearing top-notch back, answering the phones, hearing the people down the hall, hearing the buzzers, hearing all the wonderful compliments that she gets. and providing compassion and companionship to your family
