Life has taken an unexpected and frightening turn for our family. My mom, Katie, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and began her first round of chemotherapy with hope and determination. Unfortunately, shortly after receiving treatment, she experienced a severe reaction that resulted in a week-long hospitalization and a very difficult road to recovery.
During this time, doctors discovered additional complications. Her heart began showing irregularities, and she is now also dealing with gallbladder issues that require medical intervention. Because her body is currently too weak for surgery, doctors must place a drainage tube for the next six weeks while she regains strength.
As you can imagine, this has been overwhelming both physically and emotionally. During this time, she is unable to work and has no clear timeline yet for when she can safely return home or resume normal life. Meanwhile, everyday responsibilities continue to pile up — medical expenses, monthly bills, and even unexpected setbacks like the hailstorm that shattered the back window of her car last night.
We are starting this fundraiser to help ease some of the financial burden so that she can focus on what matters most right now: resting, healing, and fighting her way back to health.
My mom is someone who has always shown kindness and support to those around her. She is strong, loving, and deeply valued by her family and friends. If you are able to give, no matter the amount, it would mean the world to our family. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page and keeping her in your prayers and thoughts would also mean so much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story and for any support you can offer during this incredibly difficult time.
