Katie has been courageously living with multiple sclerosis (MS), an unpredictable and often invisible disease that can affect the body in sudden and devastating ways. About a week and a half ago, she experienced a severe MS-related flare-up that led to a serious accident.

As a result, Katie suffered a severe facial injury involving both the outside of her face and the inside of her mouth, requiring emergency treatment, stitches, and time away from work. What began as a frightening moment quickly turned into an ongoing medical ordeal.

About a week later, complications from the initial injury meant she had to undergo surgery. Unfortunately, doctors expect this may not be the end of her treatment, and she will likely need additional procedures throughout the year as she heals.

Living with MS already comes with daily physical, emotional, and financial challenges. This unexpected injury has only added to that burden. While her workplace has been incredibly supportive and her insurance covers a portion of the costs, many expenses remain — including significant out-of-pocket medical expenses, and other unforeseen needs that arise during a medical crisis.

It is incredibly difficult to ask for help, especially for someone as strong and independent as Katie, who would never ask on her own. That’s why I am starting this GoFundMe on her behalf — so she can focus on healing, managing her MS, and getting through the months ahead without the added weight of financial stress.
