Katie’s surgery has now been approved by the HSE — but our fundraising journey is not over.

We are incredibly grateful that the cost of Katie’s surgery in Florida will be covered. After years of fighting, this is the news we prayed for.

However, Katie will need a huge amount of physiotherapy before and after her operations.

We are now working to get her as strong as possible before surgery, and her rehabilitation afterwards will be long and intensive. We know in our hearts that all of the physiotherapy Katie will need will not be fully covered.

She is expected to need physio up to five days a week for years to give her the best possible chance of standing, walking and remaining as independent as possible.

The money raised will also help with the costs of being in Florida, including food, and other expenses that are not covered while we are away for Katie’s treatment.

We have reduced the GoFundMe target because the surgery itself is now funded, but we still desperately need your help to make sure Katie has access to the rehabilitation she needs.

Getting the surgery is only the beginning. The hard work comes afterwards.

Every donation, no matter how small, will help us continue Katie’s physio and give her the strongest possible future.
