Single Mom and ER Nurse Needs Us

Katie Flannigan needs your support!  As most of you know, Katie has experienced some difficult news lately.  She has displayed a large amount of courage and bravery throughout it all; however, for once, she needs strength with our help! Two weeks before Christmas 2017, Katie was complaining of abdominal pain.  After being admitted into the hospital and experiencing a series of tests; she was informed that she has stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to the liver.  At the age of 41, this is almost unheard of.

Immediately, Katie underwent an emergent surgery in which they removed a large mass.  Since then, Katie has seen numerous specialists and doctors and the plan is to continue with chemotherapy.  However, before she can receive the chemo, Katie must undergo one more surgery in February to remove some cancer that has spread to her liver and lymph nodes.  During that surgery they will be examining other suspicious areas as well.  Katie will then need to recover from surgery prior to receiving chemotherapy sometime in March.  

As most of you are aware, Katie works as an Emergency Room nurse.  Due to a weakened immune system, Katie will be unable to work during treatments.  At the current time, Katie is living on her own, supporting herself and three young children.  Medical bills and every day necessities are adding up.  She has always been a determined individual who has demonstrated selflessness in more ways than one.  However, during this difficult and uncertain journey, she will require every amount of financial help that she can receive.

Most of you have been lucky enough in some way to meet Katie Flannigan and if you are fortunate to truly know her then you often see the girl that everyone loves.  Katie has shown her large heart in different ways throughout our lives.  She is very dedicated to her children and enjoys being a mom.  Katie has always had a compassion for helping others and carried that passion to her career.  Katie became a paramedic/firefighter at a young age and while raising three kids she started to pursue a degree in nursing.  After graduating, Katie became an ER nurse: a career she truly took pride in.

Katie has felt various emotions throughout all of this and this page has been created to make her aware of how much support she has.  She still has some questions that need to be answered and she has one large fight ahead of her.  However, she is not alone and she will have many fighting with her.
