Help Katie fight Gastrointestinal Stromal Cancer

Please help Katie fight the fight of her life! Both bouts of cancer have affected her life physically, emotionally and financially.

I am setting this fundraiser up, with the help of her family, to help Katie in any aspect we can. Please read below (written by Kate's dad: Billy Norman):

"So it’s hard to put this in words or to explain this but with a heavy heart, I believe it’s time I let everyone know that my daughter Katie Norman has been fighting the fight of her life this past 3 years starting before Covid with a rare form of cancer called Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor (GIST) it’s cancer that grows as a tumor and in many cases very aggressive! Feb 2021 Katie had surgery for a massive tumor that grew on the outside of her lower intestine, and unfortunately connected to her pancreas. The procedure was done at the Calgary Hospital for Cancer. She experienced many complications after surgery to remove it and spent many months recovering. The cancer was successfully removed, but with a very high chance of it returning, unfortunately. During this time, Katie was forced to go on, short and long-term disability with work, and as she was recovering from cancer surgery she experienced an unexpected "bump in the road", forcing her to find other alternatives to live unfortunately. This by no means helped her recovery in any way or form but Katie was able to move on and be strong on her own with lots of family support. Fast forward to this year 2023. She has recently been diagnosed once again with cancer returning this time to her liver unfortunately and is very aggressive; she is taking the proper means of medication to help her fight this ugly cancer. Now this round of this rare cancer has targeted her liver Organ which has been very extremely hard, physically, mentally painful and emotionally as she’s fighting for her life one more time! Katie is very strong and definitely a fighter, but the second round is definitely taking its toll on her and her energy and everyday living and now is experiencing some very tough times with finances and so forth. I just wanted to explain to everyone that is on my Facebook family and friends what we have been going through in the last three or so years in case you didn’t know or you didn’t know the whole story and circumstances. I do apologize if you did not know as this has been very very hard on our family to see our daughter go through this very tough time in life and now fighting for her own life. "
