Help Katie Carlson Honor Baby Adalynn's Memory
Donation protected
I am raising funds on behalf of Katie Carlson, who recently lost her daughter Adalynn after giving birth to her at 21 weeks.
Katie is a devoted and loving mom to her four children and was excited to have another little girl bless their family. Early on in her pregnancy, her youngest daughter became sick with Fifth Disease, which causes a facial rash and cold and flu-like symptoms. This virus primarily impacts children and doesn't commonly transfer to adults. Unfortunately, while nursing her daughter back to health, she contracted the infection. A risk, although rare, is that the virus transfers to a fetus in a pregnant mother. The largest symptom this can cause is anemia.
After contracting the virus, Katie had an MRI and ultrasound to check on baby Adalynn. During these scans, it was discovered that baby Adalynn had bleeding on the brain. At first, it seemed like a very small bleed, and although there could be some developmental delays, doctors were optimistic.
Unfortunately, a scan a few weeks later brought devastating news. Baby Adalynn's brain bleed had gotten larger, and she was severely anemic. Doctors gave the bad news to Katie and her partner, Jason, and they informed her the chances of survival to term for the baby were incredibly low, and even if baby Adalynn survived, her quality of life would be extremely poor. Doctors recommended that Katie deliver baby Adalynn so mom and dad could spend as much time with her as possible during her short life.
Katie gave birth to 1-pound baby Adalynn on July 24th, 2025. Her heart beat while in her mother's arms, but she did not survive. This has been devastating for Katie, Jason, and their four small children.
They are now at a crossroads of wanting to honor their beautiful baby girl while not having prepared for unexpected funeral expenses.
Anything you are able to donate will help this family immensely to provide a proper funeral for baby Adalynn and help support the family while they take some time off to heal.
