It is with tears in my eyes that I ask you to please keep our dear friend, Katie, in your thoughts at this time. Katie’s soul mate, Tom, lost his life Sunday July 8, 2018 in a motorcycle accident.
As a couple, their happiness was undeniable and infectious. Together, they were equals in wit and in humor. Katie always said Tom was a dreamer and that’s just a part of why she loved him so much. These past few months were filled with even more happiness and joy, as they planned together to welcome a baby boy in October. Katie asks that people who knew Tom share their stories of him with his son one day. Please email stories and pictures to [email redacted]
Tom was full of life, as many people have put it, and he always brought a special fun-loving presence to a room. His passion for life was contagious, as was his laugh. He was intensely devoted to both Katie and Gigi, their Chihuahua. He could always make Katie laugh and he supported her in her studies, in her travel, and all other endeavors. He loved to dress Gigi up in little clothes and he once built a little hammock for her.
Tom and Katie were able to travel the world together, which was one thing they did together best. They spent a year or so in Madrid, Spain having the time of their lives. They recently took back-to-back trips to Japan, Vietnam, and Hawaii. He posted on Facebook about his travels with zeal and comedy.
Katie has written that their “love story was greater than anything [she] could have dreamed of and more powerful than [the two of them]”. She feels fortunate for the time that they did have together. She is determined to make sure she raises their baby in a way that will foster Tom’s spirit within him.
There has been an outpouring of love and support surrounding Katie that I know she is extremely grateful for, but I ask that you please help her in one other way. If you are able, please give what you can to assist Katie in the coming weeks, months, and years as she faces the challenges that come with grieving the loss of Tom while raising a child alone. Or if you'd prefer to buy something for the baby, her registry link is: https://www.amazon.com/baby-reg/katie-barr-october-2018-sandiego/1TRYK2OWBHRP2
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts, Emily and Laura
Also, details of his Celebration of Life will be posted here shortly. Please check back.
