Hello, my name is Mike, and I'm raising funds to help my friends Katie and Ken, who live in Roseville, CA. They recently paid off their mortgage but discovered urgent, expensive repairs needed for their home.
Built in 1957, the house sits on a concrete slab, and the sewer line running under it has been severely damaged by tree roots. To replace the line, plumbers must break up the concrete floor, and the estimated cost is $18,000.
The root damage is causing gradual blockages, and without repairs, the house will soon be uninhabitable.
Katie and Ken are retired on fixed incomes, and their homeowner's insurance won’t cover the cost. Ken, a Navy veteran with service-related disability, wishes he could do the work himself, but it's not feasible now. Katie said, "They might as well have told me it would cost $100,000—we can't afford this."
If they can't make the repairs, they'll need to sell the house, which is incredibly difficult in the current California market, especially for retirees. Your support will help them keep the home they’ve worked so hard for.
