Help Katie and Brandon back into their home

Hello all! My name is Sara. I’m a long time friend of Katie Peters and her partner Brandon Bouchard. I’m reaching out to advocate and inspire the raising of funds for Katie and Brandon alongside Katie’s Aunt Jo. Over the last year and a half Katie and Brandon have experienced many hardships, many of which are monetary in nature. It has reached a point where the problems have grown too large for them to manage on their own and thus we are reaching out to you!
In early 2020 Katie began to experience some medical issues. Katie saw many doctors and had countless investigations performed as her symptoms were very obscure and undiagnosable. She worked tirelessly to advocate for herself performing extensive research, reaching out to specialists out of country and fighting for a diagnosis. Eventually this led to her Lyme disease and mold co-infection diagnosis. She now has a great team working with her in hopes of achieving her previous quality of life. During this ordeal, Katie has been unable to work due to her medical status. She currently follows a very strict and ever-changing medication regime - with costs upwards of $1000/month. The severity of Katie's symptoms fluctuate. Much of the time she feels too unwell to drive or even be alone. Her wonderful partner Brandon, along with some very dependable family members, have stepped up to support Katie through some very difficult days.
With Katie’s co-diagnosis being mold infection, their home became the center of investigation for the source of the infection. Air quality in the home they were renting to own was examined and found to be hazardous to human occupancy. With this knowledge, Katie and Brandon vacated the home and have been living in a travel trailer on the property while their home was further inspected. The mold damage was recently found to be so severe that it warranted a complete tear down of the structure. As such they remain in the travel trailer while they navigate a rebuild from scratch. This is less than ideal as we progress further into our Northern Ontario winter.
Due to Katie's current ongoing health care expenses and inability to work, the cost of living and finding somewhere to rent exceeds their abilities to fund at this time. They have been incredibly strong and resilient through these events supporting themselves and tirelessly working to find normalcy but now its time for some extra help and support. We are asking for anything that can help support this wonderful couple through this difficult time and hopefully help them to regain their quality of life. But most importantly weather this storm and make it through the winter with their health and well-being.
