Hi my name is Kelly, I met Katie in February of 2020 and since meeting her we have become inseparable. When Katie is at her best she is energetic, bright and running circles around everyone. However, as many of you may know Katie has been battling endometriosis for many years. Things took a turn for the worse in July 2020 when Katie was rushed to the ER for a cyst rupturing. After consulting with multiple doctors and specialist's it was determined at age 26 she would have to have a hysterectomy. The severity of her endometriosis has caused an inability to complete normal day to day tasks due to the pain.
How It Started
In August Katie had to make the tough decision to take a leave of absence from work not knowing when she would be able to return. Her condition is complicated and therefore surgery was not an option until a specialist was available, pushing her suffering out even further. While dealing with the endometriosis, Katie began dealing with severe chest pains. She underwent a series of tests to figure out what was wrong.
A Turn For The Worse
In October Katie prepared for her hysterectomy but received news she never expected to hear. The heart tests came back and she was told she would have to postpone her hysterectomy and prepare to undergo a procedure to patch a hole in her heart valve, or risk a stroke on the operating table. News just continued to get worse while her endometriosis symptoms escalated. Katie has been in an out of the ER to get pain levels under control as the medicine is sometimes not enough. I have taken her to the ER myself and watched her twist and turn in agony on the way there. I have listened as she's cried through not just the physical pain but the emotional duress this has taken on her.
How We Can Help
At this time, Katie has a scheduled consult for her heart surgery. Dates for both surgeries and recovery are not insight and her return to work gets pushed farther and farther back. Currently, bills are piling up which is why we are turning to you. Katie has exhausted all options from the state, her health benefits through work, and depleted her savings, Her fiancé Jon is working two jobs and they have received support from family when able to. What we are asking for will help cover Katie's portion of rent for the next three months, medical bills until her deductible is met, and recovery costs while she is out of work.
