Help Katie Access Life-Saving Stem Cell Therapy
Donation protected
January 18, 2023, our family received the devastating news that our eldest daughter, Katie McIntyre Cocco, now age 37, was diagnosed with Huntington’s Disease (HD). HD is a progressive, inherited neurological disorder that causes the gradual breakdown of brain cells (neurons) in a specific area of the brain. Currently, there are no known cures for HD. Miraculously Katie's MD/functional medicine doctor tried using ethically harvested umbilical stem cell treatments and it has slowed the advance of the disease and improved the quality of Katie's life.
Insurance paid for 12 months of this groundbreaking successful treatment for Katie. Since ending in December unfortunately, Katie has become 'wobbly' again and her insurance will not pay for any more treatments.
We are so proud of Katie as she faces HD with remarkable courage and determination demonstrated by this post she wrote shortly after her diagnosis: https://explorehopechurch.org/blog/2023/3/21/huntingtons-and-the-gospel
Friends have asked how they could contribute to help support Katie and Mike moving forward. Based on these inquiries, we decided to start this funding request to help out financially so that Katie can continue to receive ethical umbilical stem cell treatments. We, as her parents, are asking for your help to keep Katie healthy. The cost of these treatments is $75,000.00 per year and will be needed throughout her lifetime. Any contribution you feel led to make will be greatly appreciated. But we realize that not everyone is in a position to give money, so we also ask that you keep the Cocco family in your prayers.
Katie is married to Mike, and they have two children, aged 5 and 7. They reside in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
