HELP KATHY CARE FOR HER DAD WITH CANCER IN VIETNAM

Donation protected
On Friday March 29th, Kathy received an urgent call from her family in Vietnam to return home and visit her father, John, as his journey on earth is nearing its end. In December last year (2018) John was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer deemed inoperable. In this last month John's condition has been deteriorating fast. Kathy jumped as quickly as she could on a flight to Vietnam that Monday (April 1st) and is currently in Saigon right now visiting her father and family. In Vietnam, often the responsibility of end of life care falls on the family and friends of loved ones at home, as palliative care is limited in hospitals. This is the case for John and his family. Kathy and her older brother, being his only children, are now quickly trying to find resources to provide John with the appropriate medical care and pain management he needs at home. Kathy’s current plan is to return back to Canada while her brother stays, organize her leave of absence from work, source end of life care information from professionals, seek pain management options for John, and move to Vietnam for the foreseeable future to take care of John during this time. This move to Vietnam for Kathy could last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. Kathy's partner Simon will also be making a 2 week trip to Vietnam to be with Kathy and her family during this time. Simon will be returning home before Kathy to continue working and supporting Kathy from Vancouver, while Kathy plans to stay in Saigon until her fathers passing.   While talking to Kathy on the phone, she expressed how the ideal situation would be for her to move to Vietnam for the remainder of her father’s life and care for him. But slowly in crept the doubt surrounding money, housing, work, and how her moving to be near her father was not financially an option as it would cause her a strenuous amount of debt. One thing for certain, her heart knows it must be in Vietnam and Kathy should be able to be with her father and family. My hope for her is to be able to give end of life care to her father without having to think about the financial burden upon her return home to Canada - LETS MAKE THIS HAPPEN FOR HER!!! As a community lets work together to help take this financial load off Kathy and her family's shoulders so they can be where they are needed, Vietnam.  I’m hoping through this platform we can join together to raise enough money to help with some of the basic costs during their absence and inability to work while away.  Expenses so far include : End of life at home care for John, flight tickets, accommodation, daily living expenses in Vietnam and rent in Vancouver. Kathy and her family will need around $13,500 raised to help relieve some of this financial burden. *Any donation amount is accepted with love and greatly appreciated at this time!*
