Help Kathy Stay at Home

Our sister, Kathy Friend, has now been battling ALS for over a year. Her expressed wish is to remain at home for as long as possible. We are extremely grateful for the wonderful and compassionate care Kathy is receiving right now but these caregiving expenses are almost $7300 a month. We are trying everything to help Kathy continue to stay in her home. If we can reach our goal of $25,000 she can receive her current level of help for over three months. One of us lives with her and the other two help also to supplement her paid care with our presence in caring for her.

ALS is such a debilitating disease and Kathy experiences changes every week. Her muscle tone is weak and her strength is depleted just doing normal daily grooming activities. She is on a breathing machine constantly, has a feeding tube, and requires assistance to a wheelchair. She has given up her job, driving, and going out for a haircut. But, her smile is still there and her mind is sharp; and she can still talk unlike some other ALS patients. She loves when her sister Debbie’s grandkids come to visit.

For transparency we wish to say that since it’s difficult for Kathy to handle the way GoFundMe donations are withdrawn, your donations will go into her sister Sharon’s account who will withdraw the funds on Kathy’s behalf under GoFundMe’s parameters and requirements and then deposit to Kathy’s account. Thank you for your understanding.
