Hi - My name is Michael Hawley. My sister is Kathy (Hawley) Wheeler. Over the weekend of June 10 - 13th my sister took a turn for the worse in fighting her cancer battle. She was taken into Bronson Methodist Hospital ER in Kalamazoo. They determined that her blood count was dangerously low - her body had stopped making blood. She had fluid on her lungs which was either from pneumonia or her long cancer, making it difficult for her to get oxygen. They gave her a transfusion, fluids, and put her on oxygen. This helped her to be coherent enough on Monday that our family was able to say our good byes. That Monday morning they told us she had a week or less. That afternoon it was changed to a couple of days. Tuesday morning we were told to hurry to the hospital - she had only hours. My sweet, beautiful sister lost her battle with cancer at 10:45 a.m. June 15th. All funds raised will go towards medical bills and funeral services. She is pictured with her grandson Wyatt. She has 1 son and 3 grandchildren whom she loves more than anything. My sister was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has metastasized to her brain(7 tumors), her liver, and her cervix. She has begun intense daily radiation treatment and chemo to try to halt the growth and spread of the cancer. Needless to say, she has had to quit working and her insurance is not very good. She is not married and has no other means of income. We, her family, are helping as much as we can with bills, food, etc., but we can only afford so much. Her medical costs are rising quickly and she really needs financial help. The last thing she needs to stress about right now is money and bills. Our family is not one to ask for help, but we really need it for my sister right now. The need is urgent.
