My name is Chris Thompson, sometimes referred to as Zak. I'm the son of Kathleen Rogers. My mother just recently suffered 2 strokes and is lucky to be alive. She lives alone in a loft in downtown Los Angeles with her dog (Malcolm) and 2 cats (Kimber and Grace). For several days following her strokes, she would not call for help in fear that no one would be there for her pets. By the grace of God, a close family member called to say hello and found out the horrible news. My uncle Bill came to the rescue, got to her immediately, and called 911. She made it to the hospital in time to save her life. When I got the tragic news, I left Portland, Oregon, within hours and drove the 1000 miles to come take care of her and her pets.
My mother, Kathy, is a professional seamstress, fashion designer, and personal assistant. She has lived in the Fashion District (aka Skid Row) in DTLA for over 20 years. A couple of years ago, her longtime employer passed away from medical complications and left my mom without a job and income to pay her bills. She has survived on $900/month social security, help from me, and food stamps. Somehow managing to survive on such little income, feed and care for 3 pets, and manage to do this in such a dangerous and depressing part of the city (DTLA). There are many family members, friends, and associates out there that know or have known my beautiful mother throughout her 79 years on earth. She is in desperate need of financial support.
Currently, she is at a physical therapy/rehabilitation facility here in Los Angeles. Our plans are to move her out of LA and come live with us in the Portland, Oregon area, where I live with my fiancé, Susan. This whole process is going to take time, hard work, money, and a lot of prayers/tears. I'm here to put hard work, my time, and prayers/tears, and whatever it takes but money is a big problem. We are seeking contributions to help Kathy, my mother, through her rehabilitation process and her transition from DTLA to Portland. Please donate whatever you can. Please feel free to contact me for any reason regarding my mother's situation. Love to all. Zak
