On February 7th,my mother, Kathy Page was heading home from work, and 1 block from her home was involved in a head on car accident. We aren't sure why the accident happened, but Kathy was seriously injured and had to be Life-flighted to KU med center in Kansas City. She was the only person with injuries from the accident.

The next three weeks have been a roller coaster for our family. She survived a surgery to repair her heart, as well as a fusion surgery to repair her neck. She experienced significant trauma in multiple areas of her body including several broken ribs, lacerations on her liver and spleen, and a significant brain bleed.

While she survived all of these surgeries and started to show initial signs of improvement , she wasn't able to be weaned off of the ventilator, even after performing a tracheostomy, and last week contracted a strong case of pneumonia which gave her septic shock. The antibiotics did not show improvement in treating her infection, and her condition continued to worsen. Eventually she stopped obeying commands to move her extremities. On March 3rd, she passed away with the company of family and friends.

I am creating this GoFundMe to help support her hospital bills, as well as the future that will include funeral expenses and probate (She did not have a will). 100 percent of all funds will go to my mother's support. She lived a frugal life, and was living paycheck to paycheck to support herself. We are doing our best as a family to try and cover everything for her, but we need all the support we can get.
