Help Kathy & Guy Rebuild After Aspen Acres Fire

My sister Kathy and her husband, Guy, lost everything in the Aspen Acres Fire in Beulah, Colorado. They were in the airport, returning home from celebrating Kathy’s birthday, when they learned their neighborhood was being evacuated. They never made it home. A kind neighbor rescued their beloved cat, Steve. Their home, Kathy’s quilting studio, Guy’s tools, their vehicles, every family keepsake, and more than 30 years of their lives were gone. For more than 30 years, this mountain home was where Kathy raised her children and built a life she loved. She filled it with beautiful gardens that attracted hummingbirds and butterflies. After they married, Guy built the porch where they loved to sit together and enjoy the mountain views. Kathy spent her career as a psychiatric nurse until health challenges forced her onto disability. She depends on oxygen and diabetes supplies every day, all of which were lost in the fire. Kathy is also a talented seamstress and quilter. Her beloved “she shed” was her creative sanctuary. She spent months saving for her specialized sewing and embroidery machine and years building a collection of fabric, thread, quilting supplies, and works in progress. Every bit of it was destroyed. Guy, a U.S. Marine veteran and skilled mechanic, lost every tool he relied on for his work, along with his workshop equipment and his dream ATV. Your donation will help provide immediate necessities like temporary housing, clothing, medications, oxygen and diabetes supplies, food, and other essentials while helping Kathy and Guy replace the tools and equipment they need to work, create, and begin rebuilding their lives. If you’re able to donate, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser is an incredible gift. We’d especially appreciate shares with the quilting, sewing, nursing, veteran, and Colorado communities. Thank you for helping Kathy and Guy take the first steps toward rebuilding the home—and the life—they spent more than 30 years creating.
