Hi everyone, my name is Kathy, and I wanted to share a little bit of my story. I am currently enrolled at Gateway Community & Technical College and only have two semesters left until I graduate with my associate’s degree in Human Services. After that, I plan to continue on to earn my bachelor’s degree and keep growing in the field of substance use disorder treatment.
Ten years ago, I struggled deeply with addiction and didn’t take school seriously. Because of that, I’ve now reached my financial aid limits. Today, I am proud to say I have been sober for five and a half years, and my life looks completely different. I now hold my CDCA in Cincinnati, Ohio, and I work in the field helping others who are on their own recovery journey. I am doing everything I can to move forward, but I need help covering the cost of these final semesters so I can finish what I started.
The funds from this fundraiser will go directly toward tuition, textbooks, and school-related fees that are no longer covered due to me reaching my financial aid limit. Additionally, some of the support will help with basic necessities that allow me to stay focused on school, such as transportation to and from classes and work, as well as maintaining stability while balancing my job and education. Every dollar will go toward helping me stay enrolled, complete my associate’s degree, and continue moving forward into my bachelor’s program. This support would truly make a direct impact on my ability to finish school and continue helping others in recovery.
If you are able to help in any way—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this post—I would be truly grateful. Every bit of support helps me get one step closer to graduation and continuing this work. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support you can give. It means more than I can put into words.
