Support Kathy and John LaPointe
Kathy and John LaPointe are the victims of the Salina Street fire in Schenectady, and their lives were turned upside down in a matter of moments. On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 20th, while Kathy and John were out, firefighters responded to heavy smoke coming from the 900 block of Salina Street around 3 p.m. By the time help arrived, the back of the house was engulfed in flames. Thankfully, no one was injured because the home was unoccupied, but the damage was devastating. Their house sustained extensive fire damage to the first and second floors, leaving behind heartbreaking loss and uncertainty.
This home was so much more than a building. Kathy and John poured their hearts and souls into it over the years, making improvement after improvement until it became Kathy’s dream house just this past year. Kathy is retired due to poor health and spends her days caring for her grandson, Jack, who means everything to her. Now the home they worked so hard to create has been destroyed, and they are facing the overwhelming task of starting over.
As Kathy’s goddaughter, Jessica is begging for help so Kathy and John can begin rebuilding as soon as possible. Any support will go toward helping them recover from this devastating fire and take the first steps toward rebuilding the home they loved so dearly. Please donate if you can, and keep Kathy and John in your thoughts. They are truly wonderful people who have already suffered so much tragedy. Thank you for standing with them during this incredibly difficult time.
