Help Kathleen Recover: A Fight for Life, Laughter, & Love

You know... I don't even know where to begin.
Turns out... my guardian angel needs help.

Her name is Kathleen. She’s private—so private that she’d probably kill me for doing this. But I think, deep down, she’d also be immensely grateful.

On February 2, 2025, I took her to the ER because she was “dying” from the flu. It’s been going around, so no one questioned it much. They prescribed Tamiflu and sent her home.

Three days later, it got so bad that I had to take her back. She told them she was really sick, that it felt like she was having an aneurysm. The pain was unbearable. They gave her medication for the headache, something for the nausea, and sent her home again.

On February 6, she looked at me and said, “I think I’m dying.” She told me that if she wasn’t better by morning, we’d have to go to the hospital.

By February 7, things had changed. When I checked on her, she was sitting up in bed. I asked if she was okay, and she just shook her head. A few hours later, I checked again, and she just looked at me—but something was wrong.

I said, “Hey, are you alright?”
She wouldn’t answer. She wouldn’t even look at me.
I told her, “If you don’t say something right now... I’m going to have to call someone, okay?”

She still didn’t respond.

So I called 911.

By the time the paramedics arrived, I realized she was completely unresponsive. I thought maybe she’d had a stroke—I didn’t know. The EMTs agreed and rushed her to Baylor Scott & White in McKinney, Texas.

In the ER, she was still unresponsive. For whatever reason, they immediately suspected meningitis. She briefly responded to pain stimuli, but when they performed a spinal tap, she didn’t react at all.

Then, they discovered something even worse.

She was having continuous seizures in her brain.

Doctors immediately induced a medical coma to protect her brain and started aggressive treatment for meningitis.

Turns out... she was dying. Not from the flu, but from a devastating infection in her brain. The pressure was unbearable—akin to an aneurysm. A pocket of infection was crushing her brain, and her body just couldn’t take it anymore.

Why We Need Your Help
A week ago, I was making Valentine’s Day dinner plans for Kathleen—somewhere fancy, one of those places she’d roll her eyes at but secretly love. Today, I sit beside her hospital bed, whispering prayers, waiting for a sign that she’ll come back to us.

Kathleen is strong. She’s kind. She’s the one who believed in me when no one else did.

Now, I have to believe for her.

At 10:00 AM today, the doctors began the process of withdrawing her from sedation. It will take 24–48 hours, and even then, she may not wake up immediately. The infection is gone, but we don’t know the extent of the damage.

And time comes with a cost.

I’m doing everything I can to hold her life together—to make sure that when she wakes up, she has a home to return to, medical care to support her, and the security to focus on healing instead of struggling.

But I can’t do this alone.

This fundraiser will go toward:
Medical costs not covered by insurance.
Keeping her home and bills stable while she fights her way back.
Supporting her recovery once she wakes up.
I don’t know what tomorrow holds. But I do know this—Kathleen is still here.

And as long as there is hope, I refuse to give up.

If you can help—whether by donating or sharing this campaign—I would be forever grateful. Even when all hope seemed lost, it endured. And today, I choose to endure with it.

Thank you for believing in Kathleen with me.
