Help Kathleen Get the Surgery She Desperately Needs to Save Her Hand
Dear friends, family, and compassionate souls,
I’m reaching out today to ask for your help in supporting Kathleen, a strong and determined single mother of two — who has been fighting for over a year to regain the use of her hand after a devastating accident.
On October 4th–5th, 2024, Kathleen suffered a severe injury that completely changed her life. The aftermath of the accident: she cut eight tendons and all the nerves in her hand, including one of the main nerves — the ulnar nerve, which is now showing little to no signal. Since then, every day has been a struggle filled with pain, frustration, and uncertainty.
Kathleen is an independent entrepreneur and permanent makeup artist who runs her own salon in Aruba. Her work is her passion and her livelihood — the way she provides for her children. But over the past year, it has been an incredibly heavy burden trying to sustain her business and continue performing her services with only one functioning hand. Her left non dominant hand has been overworked, and her body and spirit are exhausted.
For the past year, Kathleen has done everything in her power to recover. She has undergone surgery in Aruba and has traveled twice to Colombia for consultations and second opinions — all at her own expense. Unfortunately, after countless delays and disappointments, she has lost faith in the Aruban medical system.
Many patients there are still waiting or going through their third operations without true recovery. Kathleen can no longer risk her health or future by staying trapped in that cycle. She has made the brave decision to seek treatment abroad, where she can finally receive the specialized care she urgently needs.
However, the operation abroad is not compensated — meaning she must cover the full cost entirely out of pocket. Her operation is scheduled in three weeks, but she only has two weeks left to gather the necessary funds to pay for it. Doctors have warned that if she doesn’t undergo surgery soon, her chances of regaining full hand function will become extremely low — or even impossible.
So far, with the help of kind and generous people, we have already received 1,650 Aruban florins in donations — and we are deeply grateful for every single contribution. But there’s still a long way to go to reach the full amount needed to make this surgery possible.
Kathleen has carried herself with incredible strength — as a mother, a businesswoman, and a fighter. But now, it’s time for her to focus on healing and giving herself the chance to recover.
Please, if you can, donate whatever amount you’re able to — no contribution is too small. And if you can’t donate, please share this campaign to help spread the word. Every act of kindness brings her one step closer to saving her hand and her livelihood.
Let’s come together and show Kathleen that she’s not alone in this fight.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, generosity, and prayers.
