By the time most of you will have read this Katherine will have already undergone surgery on her hand to fix the nerve damage sustained last week when her hands were cut by broken glass. This surgery is deemed to be elective and therefore will set them back $8000 just for the surgeon. Unfortunately, without this surgery Katherine’s hand is more or less useless – she won’t be able to crochet, knit, make pom poms or tie balloons in the Big W party store – all things that are very close to Katherine’s heart. I’m sure you’re aware that it has been a very tough year for the Haigh family with Katherine still recovering from open-heart surgery from last October and unable to work for a length of time, and Jacqueline in hospital at the end of May with a corneal infection. These ordeals have taken a huge toll on the family mentally, emotionally, and financially.
And while I know they have a great support network around them and have received some lovely gift baskets, it is time for all of us to give what we can to carry them through this time.
The bill for the surgeon will need to be paid in 21 days. So, we’ve got just 3 weeks to raise the funds, and it is indeed my hope that there will be more than enough so that it can help them with other expenses as well, hence my target of $12000. Let’s dig deep and show our love for Lindsay, Katherine, Reuben and Jacqueline. Thanks friends!
