My name is Roslyn Cordell, and on September 11, 2025, my mother Katherine was visiting family in Tennessee when she was involved in a life-changing motorcycle accident. She sustained life-threatening injuries, including the loss of her left leg and severe trauma to her left arm.

Since the accident, my mom has undergone 13 surgeries and is expected to have several more—around 20 in total. We are beyond grateful that she is still with us, and our focus now is on helping her heal and rebuild her life.

In addition to these injuries, my mom also lives with lupus, which makes recovery even more challenging. Before the accident, she managed her lupus through an active, healthy lifestyle. She has always been incredibly strong, and her faith and determination continue to guide her through this unimaginable journey.

Katherine has spent her life helping others, especially supporting recovering addicts as they work to rebuild their lives. She is a woman of deep faith, and now she’s the one who needs our help.

Her Current Condition

After spending over a month in a hospital in Chattanooga, we were able to transport her home to Denver, where she is now being treated at Colorado State Hospital for an infection in her left elbow. Her amputation site and arm are still healing and require ongoing wound care.

I have been by her side almost every day since the accident, putting my own life on pause to make sure she’s cared for. However, I live in Jackson, WY, and can’t stay in Denver forever. My biggest fear is leaving without knowing she will have the proper care and support she needs to recover safely.

Why We’re Asking for Help

While insurance has covered some costs, many critical expenses are not covered—especially the specialized rehabilitation she urgently needs.

• A proper rehabilitation facility costs around $1,000 per day, and she’ll likely need to stay for 2–3 weeks.

• She will also need in-home care, wheelchairs, outpatient rehab, and eventually a prosthetic leg.

• On top of medical expenses, there are basic needs like rent, groceries, and transportation that she’ll need help with while she heals.

• I’ll continue traveling to Denver to support her as much as I can, but even those trips come with growing costs.

We’ve reached the point where we can no longer manage these expenses on our own. Asking for help isn’t easy, but we truly have no other option.
