My wonderful mother-in-law, Katherine Block, was rear-ended back in September of 2024, prompting her to visit a medical facility to make sure everything was okay. During her exam, the doctors found a tumor the size of a lime behind her eye and pushing on her frontal lobe, possibly causing her seizures. On April 2nd, 2025, Kat met with the surgeon in Missoula where she received the news that the surgery would be substantially more invasive than anyone anticipated. The neurosurgeon and ENT Head and Neck surgeon will work together to remove the tumor in case the tumor has attached itself to Kat’s frontal lobe and the tumor isn’t only in the sinus cavity but also the cranial cavity. The five-hour surgery will involve an incision along her hairline from ear to ear, pulling facial tissue and muscle down to expose her skull, and drilling a hole before removing the tumor and finally patching the hole and suturing everything back into position. This is a major surgery that will have her out of work for a significant amount of time, and unfortunately, insurance isn’t much help.
