Help Katherine Attend I.M.A's Music Production Program

Hi, my name is Katherine Laura. I am a young Lesbian musician and my passion is teaching other young women about the Women's Music Movement and why it matters to our generation. I am hoping to learn more skills in recording and audio engineering to help more young women and Lesbians get our music out there and, hopefully, to spark meaningful cultural conversations: conversations and projects informed by the history of those who walked this path before us. I know the importance of women working with women, for women, and I want to learn more skills to help me carry forward the legacy of the Women's Music Movement and festival culture to the next generations and beyond.
The Institute for the Musical Arts (I.M.A.), founded by Ann Hackler and June Millington in 1986, are offering a program this summer that would give me the opportunity to learn new sound skills directly from women in the industry. The total cost to attend the 10 day program, food and lodging included, is $1650. I am only able to pay $150 at this time. I have never asked for crowd funding for anything before, but I am asking the women's music community for help to make it possible for me to attend the program. In addition to what I can pay, I will also be receiving the $600 Karen Kane Scholarship from I.M.A. This means I have $900 left to raise by August 7, 2025, when the program begins. Please help me raise funds to attend I.M.A.'s Studio Recording, Engineering, and Producing Program for women and girls. Thank you for your support!
