Help Katherine and Lucy Rebuild After Hurricane Milton

Hi friends. As everyone knows, Hurricanes Helene and Milton rocked the southern United States last week and this week. My daughter, Katherine, and my 9-year old granddaughter Lucy reside in Pasco County, right outside of Tampa. Heeding evacuation warnings given by local officials, they both evacuated their single-story home on the morning of Tuesday, October 8th. Once it was safe to return, Katherine and Lucy came back to their home to find that it had been completely devastated by Hurricane Milton. The roof was torn off, and all ceilings in the home collapsed, completely destroying everything that Katherine has worked so hard to provide for herself and for her daughter. The house is now unlivable, and most of their belongings unsalvageable (see pictures attached). Katherine rented this home, and will now additionally have to pay first, last and security to acquire a new place to live. As they begin to rebuild and repair their lives, we ask for your generosity.

A little about Katherine... Katherine is a single mother, a dedicated teacher, a loyal daughter and friend. She is a third grade teacher at Odessa Elementary School in New Port Richey Florida just outside of Tampa. There, she serves as the Team Lead for third grade. Previously, she was awarded “Teacher of the Year” for her outstanding dedication to the craft of teaching our youth, and providing an exceptional environment for her students and colleagues alike. Katherine has worked so hard for every single thing she had, and that is all now gone. Katherine will need to find a new place to live and replace every single thing she and her daughter own. We recognize that we are not alone in this, and that so many were impacted deeply by this disaster. We humbly ask for your help, whether that be monetary or a share to spread the word. Thank you.
