Help Kath Terry Swetman replace items lost in fire

Donation protected
On January 23, our parents suffered a huge loss when the shed on their Chittering block was destroyed by fire. Among the precious memories they had stored in boxes from Karratha, was six years worth of furniture and equipment they had bought for their new home. A dining set, double fridge, solar hot water system, power tools, a ride-on mower, beds, cabinets, lighting, a beehive, water tanks - all gone. They even lost their suitcases full of belongings as they had just arrived from Karratha for a short break with family.

Our parents are not the ordinary couple -- they have given so much to their community and literally sacrificed their best years for the benefit of others. Dad has been a volunteer at Karratha State Emergency Service for 30 YEARS. Mum was a volunteer alongside him for 15 years. They trained to save lives after cyclones, cliff falls, road accidents and severe emergencies.
They have also used their expertise to train others in this field and even represented their unit and country and at State and International road accident rescue competitions. Dad was nominated for the Peter Keillor Award for his actions after Cyclone George near Port Hedland. He flew out without a second thought, right into the centre of the destruction to coordinate evacuation efforts and was one of the last people to stay behind.
Our parents have given up years of their time to save lives and have done it all without being paid a cent. They have never asked for anything in return for their service.
Now after this devastation, we ask you to give back to them and help them rebuild so they can finally retire to their dream home and enjoy it with their family.

They have worked so hard all these years to save and money and collect these items for their home so they can finally, after six years of waiting, move into their dream home.
The cost is immeasurable and will take a long time to recover from. The shed will be demolished and everything will slowly need to be replaced.

We are asking for your help to ease this burden and assist them in replacing some of what they had collected for their home.
Sadly, they were knocked back several times when they tried to insure the shed. Insurers would not cover the shed until the house was built and with constant delays to the build, only made worse by the pandemic, meant they had to wait even longer. Now they have no option but the cover their costs.
Thankfully they were not hurt in the fire and the house, part-way built, was not affected. The incredible fire crews from Bindoon, Ellenbrook, Muchea ,Gingin and Chittering saved the house and surrounding block. We are incredibly grateful for their efforts.

If you can spare anything to help them get back on their feet, we would be incredibly grateful.

Hopefully we can reach this goal by the time the house is finished being built
