For over 14 years, I’ve had the privilege of knowing my dear friend Kate. If you’ve met her, you already understand why this fundraiser exists: she is one of the most genuinely kind, generous, and open-hearted people you could ever come across. She shows up for people—always—with love, compassion, and a willingness to help however she can.

Originally from California, Kate built deep friendships and connections over the years before moving to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware with her husband Kyle to be closer to family. Together they are raising three beautiful children: Geno, Han, and their newborn daughter Effie, who was born on January 23, 2026. Kate has always been someone who loves fiercely and works tirelessly for her family and community. Right now, though, her family is facing a challenge no parent should ever have to endure.

Just weeks after welcoming baby Effie into the world and navigating the emotional and physical demands of postpartum life, Kate and Kyle received devastating news: their sweet 4-year-old son Geno has been diagnosed with leukemia. As any parent can imagine, their world has been turned upside down. Geno will need specialized medical care, ongoing treatments, and support that goes beyond what Medicaid currently covers. On top of the emotional weight of this diagnosis, the family is now facing significant medical expenses, travel for treatment, and the day-to-day costs of caring for three young children during an incredibly difficult time.

Kate should be focusing on healing, caring for her newborn, and being present with Geno as he begins treatment—not worrying about how they will afford the care he needs.

This is our chance to show up for someone who has spent her life showing up for others.
