I never imagined I would be in a position where I would have to ask for help. But today, I am reaching out because my son and I truly need support during one of the hardest seasons of our lives.
My name is Kateryna and my son is Marcus.
Recently, I lost my mom after a long and painful battle with cancer. She was diagnosed three years ago, and from that moment, our lives changed completely. As a single mother, I had to balance everything on my own — caring for my young son, going to school, and spending as much time as possible with my mom in nursing homes and hospice. We knew her illness was severe and that we would eventually lose her, but nothing prepares you for that kind of loss.
My son is only eight years old, and he loved his grandmother deeply. Watching him go through this grief while trying to stay strong for him has been incredibly difficult. My mom was our family, our support, and our emotional strength.
Right now, I am actively looking for a job, but it has been very challenging. I do not drive, and my work hours are limited because I need to be available for my son. Many jobs require late-night or weekend shifts, especially Friday and Saturday nights, which I cannot always accept because I have no childcare support. I am doing everything I can to become stable again, but this process takes time.
At the moment, I receive about $1,000 that goes directly toward rent, but basic expenses like electricity, phone, food, transportation, and daily necessities continue to add up. I am using the last of my savings, and I am reaching a point where I truly need help to provide for my child. Even simple things like buying groceries, medicine when my son gets sick, and paying essential bills have become a constant source of stress.
I know this situation is temporary. I am determined to work, rebuild, and create a stable future for my son. I just need a little support to get through this difficult period.
If you are able to contribute in any way, no matter how small, it would mean the world to our family. Your kindness will help us stay safe, fed, and hopeful while I continue searching for stable work.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading our story, for your compassion, and for any support you can offer. May God bless you and your families.
This photo was taken two years before my mom was diagnosed with cancer — a memory of us as a happy family.
We miss you so much, Mommy. Your love will always live in our hearts.
