If you know me, you know I avoid asking for help at all costs.
Graduate school has been a goal of mine for a long time, but before the COVID-19 pandemic, I was constantly bogged down by a financial battle with my alma mater and utterly exhausted working as a lead teacher in early childhood education.
After losing my job and making it through the mental health battle of our first few pandemic weeks, I decided to use the time I suddenly had to focus on one goal - go to grad school, for screenwriting, in another country, completely on my own. Turns out that last part is easier said than done. I researched programs by myself, I applied by myself, I interviewed by myself, chose MetFilm School in Berlin by myself, but when it came to navigating the logistics of moving to another country, I found myself reaching out to the absolute rock stars in my life and let me just say a huge THANK YOU to those who have given me emotional and financial support, advice, and encouragement up to this point. You know who you are :)
I have saved and saved, paid for most of my tuition myself, and now I’m down to collecting enough to cover my living expenses. Turns out it’s expensive to move to a new country!
This money will help me put down a deposit on an apartment, cover a temporary living situation for my first two weeks, and obtain whatever furniture or appliances my apartment will need. Any amount will help and I’d be so eternally grateful if you helped me pursue this dream.
