Help Kate to World Scout Jamboree in South Korea

My name is Kate - thank you for visiting my GoFundMe page. I live in Golcar and am an Explorer Scout with the 2nd Colne Valley Scout Group, Milnsbridge.

 

I am lucky enough to have been selected to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree at Saemangeum, South Korea, in August 2023. Our group of Scouts representing this area are known as "Unit 44 - The Yorkshire Puds" and will be part of a much larger UK Contingent. There will be about 40,000 Scouts from practically every country in the world attending WSJ25. It will be an incredible experience - meeting so many different people - sharing and exchanging ideas, cultures, activities and making new friends. Scouts will be joining together in a wide variety of fun and challenging events, including watersports and cooking, all having the general theme of Sustainability.

 

A key aspect of Jamboree is the personal responsibility for fundraising. The total cost is £3800. I feel I am making good progress towards this target - doing a weekly bake sale and monthly glass recycling collections in my area, as well as other ad hoc fundraising activities.

 

In July, I will be taking on the National Three Peaks Challenge, along with some other fundraising Scouts. Climbing Snowden, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis - the three tallest mountains in Wales, England and Scotland - entails a total walking distance of 37km and an ascent of 3064m.
