Our dear friend Kate underwent unexpected back surgery and spent several days in the hospital. As a devoted single mother by choice and dedicated educator, Kate spends each day caring for and supporting others—whether that is her young daughter, her students, or her family and friends. She is one of the most hardworking and loving people you could ever meet, and she would do anything for anyone in need. Right now, Kate is facing a sudden medical crisis that has turned her world upside down. Because of this emergency surgery, she is missing a significant amount of work. At the same time, she is navigating emergency room bills, surgery-related expenses, and a long and uncertain recovery.

As a single mother to a one-year-old girl, Kate is carrying so much at once.
