It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of these 4 beautiful souls owned by our own Kate Dehlin. On November 8th, after volunteering to help with emergency calls at Bayshore Veterinary Hospital, Kate returned home to find 5 of her 6 dogs (the 6th had been with her at work) had overheated due to an electrical malfunction. Kate found 3 of the 5 dogs, Farhren, Noque, and Maez, already passed, and her 14-year-old Zephyr passed in her arms while waiting for her vet to get to her home. The 5th dog, Vesper, was stumbling and had a very high internal body temperature, but due to Kate’s quick response hosing her down and then rushing her to the hospital for IVFs, thankfully pulled through. Kate’s dogs were her dog sled team, her closest companions, and her family. She participates and volunteers with multiple local dog sled races and dry land races. Due to multiple issues with her home, she has temporarily relocated herself and her 2 remaining dogs to a safe place where they can be together while they continue to heal from this horrific tragedy. Kate is a person who asks for nothing and has always put her dogs, and everyone else, before herself. Together it is our goal to bring comfort and peace to Kate and her remaining dogs by building a safe and happy home for them to return to, where they can rebuild memories in the future. If you would like to donate and help us make this dream a reality, you can do so using the Venmo link below.
You will also find the link to Kate’s kennel page and where she has finally found the strength to share her experience.
