On September 13th, 2025, Kate and Mike’s home in Seton, Calgary, was tragically destroyed in a fire. While they weren’t home at the time, their beloved dog George was in the house and tragically did not survive. George was more than a pet — he was their family, their companion, and their constant source of joy. Losing him on top of losing their home has left them with unimaginable pain.

Kate and Mike are a young couple who were just beginning to build their life together — they’re getting married this November, full of love and excitement for the future. In a single night, they lost nearly everything they owned and, most painfully, their best furry friend.

Starting over from scratch is overwhelming. They’ve lost their clothes, furniture, kitchenware, keepsakes, and so many of the little things that make a house feel like home. On top of planning their wedding, this fire has been an unimaginable setback.
