Help Kate and Haelen have a Forever Home

Hi, my name is Gavin and I'm fundraising for my friend Kate, who's a single mum to her kiddo Haelen.

Kate and I met as sleep deprived single parents on the seawall when our kids were just 8 and 9 months old respectively.

Being a single parent is hard, but we found friendship through mutual support and overcoming parenting obstacles together.

Kate and Haele are now looking at being forced to relocate for the 2nd time since Haelen was born.

After fighting a 2 year battle to not be evicted from the home where Haelen was born, Kate was forced to relocate to the Sunshine Coast, where she thought she had found a stable, long-term space to raise her kiddo. She recently found out that the owners of the house have decided to sell, and is again facing housing instability and uncertainty.

Kate is a single parent, and finding housing in her hometown - the hellscape that is Vancouver, is proving to be a continued uphill battle.

The saving grace? Kate bought a floathome in 2020 that can provide stable and affordable housing for her and Haelen. The catch? It needs about $25,000 to be liveable.

Kate has helped me more times than I can count over the last couple of years, and now I want to help her.

The float home needs to have the foam holding it afloat replaced (~$10K) and the insides need to be finished (~15K).

Work on the float home has been stalled indefinitely because Kate needs the 10K up front to get the foam fixed before the interior can be finished for it to be made liveable.

Everyone deserves a home, and Kate needs help to make this happen.
